Delius: The Walk to the Paradise Garden

The Walk to the Paradise Garden is a beautiful orchestral intermezzo from Delius' masterful music drama A Village Romeo and Juliet (1901). It is probably the most often-performed work by Delius, and justifiably so. Even though there are so many other Delius works that we would like to hear in the concert hall, The Walk to the Paradise Garden is the perennial favorite. Audiences cannot help but be moved by the sheer emotion of this music.

Here is a radio broadcast of a live performance of this work by the Houston Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Keene in January 1993.
